David Slobodin
|
|
Abstract: We are now in the midst of a historic
technology transition as display devices become increasingly interactive,
and new powerful interactive hardware and software technologies make their
way into everyday use. Multi-touch and multi-mode technologies offer more
intuitive, effective, and fun ways of interacting with computing devices,
and the combination of these new user interfaces and today’s
high-performance computing platforms has the potential to significantly
enhance user experience and productivity in a most markets. However, much
work remains on both hardware and software to realize this potential. We
will review interactive display technologies and interesting recent
developments, explore the technical and business implications, and attempt
to separate the reality from the hype. Along the way, we will identify key
technical and business challenges, and interesting opportunities for
developers.
