Laser-Scanned Display Development

Josh Miller
Systems Design
Microvision

Abstract: Recent advances in diode-based lasers offer the possibility of products containing compact scanning laser modules for a variety of display uses. Microvision is currently developing a platform technology called the Integrated Photonics Module (IPM) with a form factor small enough to be incorporated in applications ranging from Automotive Heads Up Displays (HUDs) to embedded projection in mobile devices. This presentation will look at the overall market need for the IPM platform as well as the opto-mechanical design of the system itself. Following the presentation will be a demonstration of the IPM in the Microvision's new PicoProjector.

Biography: Josh has been with Microvision in excess of 6 years, filling various roles with expertise in laser and optical engineering. Currently he is the systems designer for the Integrated Photonics Module working closely with Microvision's manufacturing partners to design a high volume, manufacturable product.

The Seminar is free. Please join the speaker for a no-host dinner after the seminar. Directions to the restaurant will be provided at the seminar. Non-Members are welcome. RSVP to Gary Johnson at Gary.Johnson@tek.com or (503) 627-1985. Please indicate if you plan to participate in the dinner.
