Technologies and Applications for Large-Sized High Resolution Tiled-Display System

Sachin Deshpande, Chang Yuan, and Scott Daly
Sharp Laboratories of America

Abstract: Sharp Labs has developed a large sized high resolution “SharpWall” - a tiled display system prototype with 10000 x 4500 pixel resolution and 177-inch diagonal size. We have developed technologies which provide 4K video streaming, on-display spatialized audio per application, and remote desktop connectivity. We have also built an application toolkit and an inter-tile synchronization design tool which can enable building lower cost tiled display systems. We will describe these technologies and tools.

Also the increasingly popular giga-pixel panorama images pose a new challenge for displays: how can one view them interactively and naturally? We propose a new approach for interactive viewing of giga-pixel images on large-size tiled displays, where the on-screen images are controlled by viewers’ natural movement in front of the display.

Seminar Information: The Seminar is free. Please join the speaker for a no-host dinner after the seminar. Directions to the restaurant will be provided at the seminar. Non-Members are welcome. the restaurant will be provided at the seminar. Non-Members are welcome. RSVP to Gary
