Abstract: In this talk, Tom will briefly review
technologies used in current 3D stereo Cinema applications with an emphasis
on the current offerings by XpanD. XpanD is a global player in this rapidly
expanding market along with RealD and Dolby. Currently Tom is involved in
the introduction of DLP-Link active shutter glasses technology for 3D
stereo applications using DLP front projector systems. Today’s discussion
will focus on the two current active glasses products produced by XpanD, a
MacNaughton/Nuvision spin-off located here in Beaverton currently employing
several hundred people. A demo of the DLP-Link technology will be shown at
the end of the discussion.
