3D Mobile Displays - An Update Steve Sechrist
|
|
Abstract: Mobile displays have consistently
pushed the envelope of technology since the days of tiny two line displays
found in “beepers” to new HD quality (720p) LED and Laser powered pico
projectors now embedded in cell phones. On the horizon is Stereoscopic 3D
(S-3D) displays with the promise of empowering mobile games, digital video
/ broadcast and web viewing from a plethora of new palm sized devices. The
talk will explore this next mobile display technology, (S-3D) including
infrastructure, content, business models and products. We conclude with a
regional update on the status of mobile S-3D developments in Taiwan, Korea
and Japan.
Note: this talk was originally given at the SID Mobile Display’s “hot topics” conference in September, 2008. The material is updated to reflect recent changes in the industry since that first presentation.
